Same Joy. Smaller Scale.

A guide to micro weddings

Small is beautiful… It always was!

In recent years, Covid-19 may have wreaked havoc upon us, but small gatherings at a wedding were really nothing new. And they can be absolutely fantastic, people-centric celebrations.

Small weddings - or to use the new term - Micro Weddings - have been many couples’ day of choice for years. Such commissions are precious for a photographer with an eye for small moments: a key reason why I thoroughly enjoy the intimate and personal dynamic of these shoots.

A smaller scale day is often the key to the magic. More emphasis is placed on moments which make the occasion matter, elements which can be diluted as part of larger celebration. If planned well, a Micro Wedding day can benefit from almost every aspect of what we all consider a traditional wedding to be. Conversely, it may even amplify the best parts.  Less can actually give you more.

Freedom from certain formalities is an oft-overlooked benefit of the Micro Wedding. A speech to a dozen people, for example, can be more heartfelt and it is certainly less nerve-racking than holding the attention of 200. As hosts, your schedule also won’t feel as rigid. And it’s a given with a more intimate group of family and friends that you can spend time with each and every attendee.

In line with the existing Town Hall coverage pricing, Micro Wedding commissions are bookable based on a 2 hour minimum attendance, beyond that the service can conceivably expand to fit any plan. A complete overview is viewable on the main pricing page. Regardless of the attendance time, as with all commissions the service includes the following as standard:

  • A pre-wedding venue meeting

  • Preview set of key images (approx 20) delivered within 24 hours

  • The master set presented in high resolution via Dropbox, available to view within 21 days.

  • Unlimited usage rights to all material supplied.

  • All expenses within a 100-mile radius.

  • Payment of deposit and/or balance via BACS, credit card or Paypal.
