As a loyal subscriber to the peerless New York Times, I’ve been glued the title’s fabulous coverage of the slow car crash that is the Trump Presidency. From day to day policy movements (well, tweeted upchucks), to the gradual reveal of the sheer horror behind the scenes, we are living through a period in World history which will be debated by generations to come. Sad as this may seem.
HBO and award winning documentary maker, Liz Garbus, have produced the must watch film of the year; The Fourth Estate. This riveting and superb look behind the scenes during the paper’s reporting of the first months of Trump’s premiership is edge of the seat stuff.
It briefly aired on BBC2 earlier in 2018, but can still be viewed via YouTube and some VPN trickery. Seek it out, it may well become a landmark production as the White House sinks to new depths…
