It’s this simple; Parvin & Jamil are the friendliest, most open couple you could wish to meet.
And so when they emailed me to outline their plan to wed at the super hip Bluebird Cafe in the King’s Road, followed next day by a lavish celebration at The Shard’s Shangri-la Hotel, you picture young Londoners who are choosing their favourite spots in town… But you’d be wrong. Because Parvin & Jamil are from Azerbaijan... and just have great taste.
There are so many positives to this shoot I need a long check list, not a short blog post. Chief among them was my brief to just shoot whatever I wanted with literally no formal ‘must gets’. This is rare, refreshing and something any photographer with a documentary style kills for - plus extremely trustworthy on behalf of the client. Throughout the two days Parvin and Jamil were true to their word, and I really thank them for that.
The list rolls on; a couple with lovely genuine chemistry, a perfect balance of logistics (and their very clear intention to get down and party), and the spectacular dusk vistas from floor 34 of The Shard, lending awe and atmosphere in equal measure.
So I donned my tux and switched on the cameras, the rest was laid out before me to record. What a great job this is.
