Amazingly, no picture of Talika appears when you Google ‘effervescent’. But it should do. The woman is like human popping candy.
When I was commissioned to shoot her marriage to Bryan there were zero doubts in my mind that this wedding would be a blast. The setting was the spectacular St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and there were very few formalities in my brief. The couple wanted atmosphere, fun and a record of being in one of London’s best venues for such a happy occasion.
Talika and I had a laugh right from the start. You can’t help but be swept along with her sheer enthusiasm for life and her wedding day was no exception. I knew the commission was meant to be as soon as she mentioned she was from Sydney. Imagine her wide-eyed reaction to the news that just a week before her big day that’s exactly where I would be - shooting Down Under. From there, well, it had to happen.
I couldn’t also help but be impressed by Bryan – who, it turns out, is the kind of chap who gives his ushers pocket watches as thank you gifts. But as cool as the guys wanted to appear whilst they tried to work out which chain attached to what part, they all failed miserably – and rather hilariously too.
For me, the wedding shoot ended just after the mass siege of the dance floor which saw Bryan hit the mark in all his wriggling glory. This is a man who obviously loves his music. And this was, without doubt, a fabulous wedding with fabulous people.
As usual, below are a just a few key moments from their wider selection...
